About the department

The office of the Superintending Engineer, PHE, is the administrative Head of the Public Health Engineering Department in Ri-Bhoi District which comprises of 2 (two) Nos. of PHE Division i.e. 1) Nongpoh (PHE) Division and 2) Umsning PHE Division. The Office of the PHE Nongpoh Division is looking after both of the Blocks i.e. Umling Block and ,lirang Block and part of Umsning Block while the PHE Division Umsning is looking for Umsning Block only:The plain type of Schemes which were implemented by PHED are as follows:

3	Deep Tube Well (DTW)
4	Spring Tapped Chamber (STC)
5	Ring Well / Dug Well
6	Rain Water Harvesting etc

2. Brief information on the Number of Sub-I)ivisions:

Sanitation Scheme:- Nongpoh PHE Division being at its District Head Quarter has also been entrusted to take up the programmes for Total Sanitation Campaign Programme for the whole District, the Ministry of Rural Development Govt. of India has already sanctioned an amount of Rs. 389.89 lakhs. The work to be taken up under this programme are as follows:-

1. Construction of IHHL
2. Construction of School Toilet
3. Construction of Community Sanitary Complex 4. Construction of Anganwadies

At present the work for this Project has been started and is to be mentioned here that revised of the same has been sanctioned amounting to Rs 1196.26 Lakhs. 1-lence considering all the above factors the Project is expected to be completed by the year 2012.

Under the programme "ISC. Total of 39 nos of villages has been received NGP. During 2008 6 Nos. of habitation received the Nirmal Gram Puraskar award from the President of India, Smti. Pratibha Patel on the 20`r' October 2008 held at Guwahati. those includes (i) Mawdiangum village (ii) Umdihar village (iii) Umsaw Noldhi village (iv) Amjok village (v) Dulongnar village & (vi) Sohkyrbam Domphlang village,during the year 2009, 6 (six) Nos of villages received NGP Award and during the year 2010 27 Nos. villages received NGP Award

Nongpoh PHE Division has also prepared the Vision Document for the schemes under Backward Region Grand Fund (BRGF).During the year 2007-08. 5 nos of schemes has been sanctioned i.e. (1). Korstep (2) Umnget (karbalu) (3). Pahambir Them (4). Umbimathan (5). Rubber khuli. During the year 2009-10, 6 nos of schemes has been sanctioned i.e. (1) Iongkhuli (2) Imp. of Warmawsaw WSS (3) Imp of of Umrit (4) Imp of Mynnar Jirang (5) Imp of Mawpnar Nongthymtnai (6) Ext of Nongrim jirang.The following are the schemes proposed for the year 2011-12.
